Our solar system today is getting bigger. Back when I was in school we had only nine planets. Now we have 12 omg where are they coming from. Seems as our technology gets more advanced our knowledge grows. Sad that they have not found life out there yet or have they?

The solar system is made up of lots besides the planets. We have the asteroid belt that lies between the planet mars and jupiter. there are for of the largest bodies in this belt called Ceres, 4 Vesta, 2 Pallas, and 10 Hygiea. Seems they have the potiential to become a planet. Having diameters of 400km. One even has a drawf planet hoovering around it.
If you go back do some research I have learned that Babylonia were the first to have written documents on the solar system.
In our solar system we have sent satelites to see what we can not from the surface of the earth. Hubble is on of them. Check out the video to the right on how much Hubble has captured in the solar system. Galaxies are more and more than we really thought.

Our little planet earth is just a tiny speck compared to the vastness of the Universe. It makes sense that we have much to learn. Rather exciting!
i agree with you both jill and peggy. i love science and i hope to get to see the universe for myself someday. would be totally awesome.
i really thort tht someone knew how big space is. but they don't n i don't think anyone will know.

One of the things that interests me about these things is that what we "know" constantly changes. It seems the more science learns about the universe and our corner of it, too, the more science has to learn about it.
